Courage and Innovation- Heart Failure and Transplantation 2019 is a comprehensive educational symposium designed to educate clinicians, physician-trainees, nurses and allied health professionals across a wide range of specialties, in the diagnosis, evaluation, and management of adult patients with all stages of cardiac failure. In addition the symposium will touch on aspects of cardiac transplantation including evaluation, pre transplant management, perioperative transplant care, post transplant follow-up and complications of recent and remote transplant patients. The distinguished faculty for this event include many of the foremost clinicians at the University of Chicago Heart Failure and Transplantation as well as internationally recognized guest faculty. Through focused presentations, panel discussion, and interactive dialogue; participants will gain both broad perspective and detailed insights into medical, procedural, and surgical therapies for heart failure.
Note, fellows will be charged a $50 fee upon registration. The $50 will be refunded once you check-in at the registration desk. Please allow at least two weeks for refund processing.
Full refunds will only be given prior to January 31, 2019. After January 31, refunds will be provided, less a $30 administrative processing fee. All refunds should be submitted to mforcier@achlcme.org.

This symposium is designed for general cardiologists, internists, hospitalists, family practitioners, cardiothoracic and vascular surgeons, electrophysiologists and interventional cardiologists, as well as nurses, technologists and other allied healthcare professionals who diagnose and treat adults with all stages of heart failure.
This one-day symposium is designed to educate attendees on the diagnosis, evaluation, and management of adult patients with all stages of cardiac failure. The distinguished faculty for this event include many of the foremost clinicians at the University of Chicago Center for Heart Failure Management, as well as internationally recognized faculty.
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
• Identify contemporary therapies for the management of heart failure.
• Describe treatment options for cardiogenic shock
• Discuss management strategies for advanced heart failure
• Recognize signs of cardiac amyloidosis and identify current therapies for cardiac amyloidosis
• Evaluate the management of heart failure patient’s on inotropes
• Identify primary care issues in post heart transplant patients
• Explain basic LVAD management in the outpatient setting
• Discuss the pharmacotherapeutic management of patient’s pre and post-transplant
• Review management best practices in special populations with advanced heart failure and transplant
